I Think Spring has Sprung!

I am so loving the longer daylight and somewhat warmer temps.  I hope the spring flooding is subsiding and summer is in our sights.

Congratulations Becky B!
Becky is the winner of my March newsletter prize drawing.  I had to cringe at some of your guesses on how much snow we would have in March!  And I’m glad that none of you were even close.  Becky’s guess of 6.2 inches was the winner, as that was closest to our local snowfall total.  Thanks to everyone who sent in a guess!  And Becky watch for a special treat from me.

Sale-a-Bration is over!
What a sale!  Stampin’Up! outdid themselves with some great offerings during the promotion with many items being extremely popular and sold out before the end of the sale.  That causes some frustration for buyers and demonstrators too.  I can understand the philosophy of not wanting to carry over a bunch of inventory, but it is difficult to promote items when they sell out in a week or less.  It’s a fine line and I’m sure that Stampin’Up! monitored what worked and didn’t work during the promotion to implement any changes to next year’s Sale-A-Bration program.

What’s New In April!

Storage by Stampin’Up! are storage products created by Stampin’Up! to help you organize your products.  If you are like me, organization is a constant battle with your crafting supplies.  Having a place for everything and having it accessible is key.  These items are modular and you can tailor them to your space.  Check the links below for information.

These items have been super popular and will be available in the new 2019-2020 annual catalog, which is just around the corner.

Retiring In-Colors
Stampin’Up! compliments their color families with a selection of what they call In-Colors.  Each group of In-Colors (5 colors) is available for 2 years and then they retire.  This year the colors of Powder Pink, Lemon Lime Twist, Tranquil Tide, Berry Burst and Fresh Fig will be retiring.
If you are partial to any of these colors, now would be the time to stock up on any of the products.  They tend to sell out fast once the retiring lists are announced.  As much as I thought I would never use the Lemon Lime Twist, I am going to really miss that color.  I might have to get an extra pack of that cardstock!

My Stampin’Up! Website
Remember that my Stampin’Up! website has all kinds of information related to products, specials, ideas and my calendar of events.  If you ever wonder what is happening in the Stampin’Up! world that is the best place to go and check it out.

My Scrap Shack Facebook Page
I post ideas and reminders on the facebook page.  Also I create facebook events for some classes and open house times that I am holding.

It can sometimes be difficult to reach everyone through all the social media and online avenues, so if you ever have a question, just give me a call at 507-995-7342 or email at jgansen725@mchsi.com

Congratulations Dawn Q!

Dawn is the winner of my February newsletter prize drawing.  How fun was that?  Lots of great new products and really hard for everyone to choose just one favorite.  Thank you to everyone that responded…I love hearing from you!

What’s it like to be a Stampin’Up! Demonstrator??

I’ve been doing it for 18 years and I’m not sure there is a standard answer to this question.  Being a Stampin’Up! demonstrator is whatever you want it to be.  For me, it allows me to tap into my creative (copier) side and make some really fun projects and gifts.  Also I get to meet and spend time with people who enjoy paper crafting just like I do.  Win, Win!

You can join as a demonstrator anytime during the year, but during Sale-A-Bration is when Stampin’Up! offers the best opportunities and value for your initial sign up.

Option 1:  $175 of Stampin’Up! products (your choice) for just $99

Option 2:  $175 of Stampin’Up! products (again, your choice) plus the exclusive Craft & Carry Tote (a $50 value) for just $129

If you would like to visit about being a Stampin’Up! demonstrator, I’d be happy to chat with you.

Since we are predicted to have another weekend with winter weather, how about a contest to see who can guess the total snow fall that we will receive in March.  Email your guess to me by Saturday, March 9th to be included in the contest.  I’ll use KEYC-TV as the official reading for the month of March.  Whoever is closest will get a stampin’ treat from me.  Good luck to all!

That Mother Nature is a Fun One!

Sitting at my desk and finishing up this newsletter I’m looking out the window watching the snowflakes come down and wonder to myself…where was this in December?!?  I will say it is pretty, but the ice under all that pretty stuff is treacherous.  I have walking like a penguin down to a science.

And what to do during all this fun winter weather??? Stamp and craft, of course!

Sale-A-Bration is in full swing

Into the second month of Sale-A-Bration and the supply of some the FREE items has already been depleted.  And these options are while supplies last so if you missed out on the Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack, I’m sorry but it is no longer available.   The Precious Parcel Card Kit and Grapefruit Grove & Lovely Lipstick Foil Sheets are also very popular and becoming limited.

Second Release of Sale-A-Bration

Cuz they can…Stampin’Up! is offering Round 2 of Sale-A-Bration items.  These items are available starting on February 15th.  Check them out here:  https://su-media.s3.amazonaws.com/media/catalogs/Sale-A-Bration%202019/20190215_SAB19-2_en-US.pdf

Coordinating Sale-A-Bration Products

Available starting March 1st these products coordinate with the 1st and 2nd release Sale-A-Bration items.  These products are available for only during the month of March, or while supplies last.  Meaning they could sell out before the end of March and not be available at that point.  All I’m going to say is…who doesn’t love a Framelit Die to go with the stamp set?  Check the products out here:  https://su-media.s3.amazonaws.com/media/Promotions/NA/2019/Q1%20Sale-A-Bration%20Coordination/03.01.19_FLYER_Q1_OOP_US.pdf

January 2019 Stampin'Up/My Scrap Shack Newsletter

And….it’s January! Just like that!  December was a whirlwind month for sure.  I hope you all were able to spend some quality time with family and friends and enjoy the season.  We were pretty low key this year as my husband had some knee repair surgery on December 20th.  Not the best timing, but we made it work.  Who needs Christmas cookies anyways…right?

I have not had a lot of time to reminisce over the 2018 Holiday Catalog or peruse through the new 2019 Occasions Catalog so I feel like I’m playing catch up with my stamping.  I have several of the new items on order and can’t wait to start creating (or copying) cards and items.  Stampin’Up! has really stepped up their game and each new catalog is top notch.

Exciting stamping news for the beginning of 2019!

Stampin’Up!’s biggest sale event, Sale-a-bration (SAB), starts on January 3rd.  What is Sale-a-bration and does it mean for you?

For Customers:  There are now two levels, so every time you spend either $50 or $100, you can pick out a SAB item for FREE!  Keep your eye on the “non-stamp set” options as sometimes these sell out.  And they did let us know that the Tea Time Framelits Dies that coordinate with the Tea Together stamp set will be carrying over.

For Hostesses:  For Hostesses with party sales over $250, you earn $25 MORE in Stampin’ Rewards during SAB.  Let me know if you want to book your event with me.

For Joining:  This time there are two options to join.

Option 1.  Get $175 worth of Stampin’ Up! products for just $99.  This is $50 more than usual when you sign up.  And there is NO shipping charged to your Starter Kit.

Option 2.  Get $175 worth of Stampin’ Up! products + the exclusive Craft & Carry Tote (valued at $50) for just $129, which is still $50 more product than usual and you are saving $20 on the bag compared to what I paid for it as a regular demonstrator.  And NO shipping is charged to your Starter Kit.

Here is the super great tote that is part of the deal.  Lots of space and storage when packing your supplies.  Love it!

Catalog Mailing Issues

So apparently some demonstrators have reported issues of their customers not receiving the 2019 Occasions and Sale-a-bration catalogs.  I know December is a busy month for the Post Office so I’m not going to throw them under the bus. 😊  If you did not receive a copy of these in the mail, please let me know and I’ll get them out to you.

Paper Pumpkin going strong!

If you haven’t tried Paper Pumpkin yet, now is the time.  With a 3-month subscription you can also receive Sale-a-bration benefits.  Win, Win!

And join the monthly Paper Pumpkin night at the Shack to open those boxes, work on your kits and make some alternatives.  2019, the year of completing each monthly kit!  It’s a goal for me.  Sign up and enjoy the monthly Paper Pumpkin fun.  Get more information regarding the kits and Paper Pumpkin event dates at:   www.jeangansen.stampinup.net

Stampin'Up! Challenge

So....this has been a crazy, busy and fun week.  Lots of stamping (2 classes), the benefit job was fun as always,  a morning spent with Connecting Nicollet County, it's boat winterizing season at the shop and I participated in the Maker Fair Minnesota at the Nicollet County Fairgrounds.  Not bad for one week.

Also I discovered that I have a face for radio! I heard that phrase a long time ago, when we had a local radio station in town and it has always stuck with me.

I'm working a program with Stampin'Up! to grow my stampin' business and each week we are given challenges to think outside the box and stretch our comfort zone.  This week was really a stretch for me.

One of our options was to create a "30 second commercial" (yikes) of the benefits of being a Stampin'Up! demonstrator.  30 seconds...wow...not sure that would be possible on any topic for me.  But the video thing was really out of my league. Maybe someday, but not this week. We have other options to challenge us and for that I'm grateful and definitely more comfortable with.

If you love Stampin'Up! products and enjoy paper crafting, Stampin'Up! has opportunities for you.  Please contact me to learn of the benefits of being a Stampin'Up! demonstrator.

Hoping the upcoming week is less "challenging" in all worlds of my life!

Good Memories

So have you ever seen something and it triggers a special memory for you?

When I first saw the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (that's a mouth full) in the Holiday Catalog that is what I experienced.

I thought of a conversation that my Grandma and I once had.
Not to bore you with a long story, but her and I used to go on Saturdays bumming
around in the antique stores and we'd have afternoon coffee.
One time I saw some ceiling tiles that were similar to the embossing folder and
thought they were pretty neat.  Gram thought so too.

Miss those days of ours and always remember all the good times we had.

Gram was the original owner of My Scrap Shack. Yep, it's special!

The video shows the features of the embossing folder.  Enjoy!
